Ionizers Compared

It can be difficult to sift through the various specifications to compare alkaline water ionizers.  Even worse, much of the information available on the internet is from companies just pushing one brand of ionizer.  In an aim to help you compare the machines for yourself we've created this comparison chart highlighting the most important aspects to look for in an alkaline water machine.

Plate Number

This refers to the number of 'plates' or electrodes in the water ionizer machine.  Generally speaking ionizers with more plates have the ability to create water with high levels of antioxidants at a drinkable pH for longer.  The more plate surface area a machine has, the more effective the ionization process.  Plate surface area can also be changed by the style of plate or the way the platinum coating is applied to the plates, but overall the number of plates has the most influence.

pH and Settings

Here we include the information about the level of acidity/alkalinity as measured on the pH scale. Alkaline water from 8.5-9.5 on the pH scale is safe and healthy for drinking. However, you may also want to occasionally produce neutral pH purified water from your machine or acid water, which has many uses.   We've also included here the number of settings on the machines.  Please note that the numbers given will vary based on your source water.

ORP

The ORP or oxidation reduction potential is a measure of the antioxidants in the water.  A high negative level will indicate higher production of antioxidant.  Please consider that this level may be achieved at pH so high that it is unhealthy to drink, as it is the maximum negative orp. The healthiest water you can drink generally has a pH of 8.5-9.5 and ORP of around -250mV.  Also remember that source water input has an effect.
