Im trying to treat my fish water tank for Ph and ammonia. Can I do that simultaneously?

I have a 10 gallon fresh water tank with 11 fish- 3 platies, 3 danios, 4 tetras and 1 corydora. Recently I realised that 2 of the platies have developed discoloration on their sides; they look more scaly now. It is not ick-I tried matching pics from the internet. They just look scaly. I thought they probably are stressed out. So I bought the test kit, pH balancer and ammonia remover tablets. How do I use them? The test showed that the water is alkaline. Should I use the tablets on alternate days or on the same day and wait a week to look at the improvement before I give a second dose? Please help!1

Well water making us sick?

My husband, daughter, and I have been getting sick lately. We have a good appetite but as soon as we eat we have, well, intestional discomfort and problems. I’ve noticed on days that I don’t drink water at home, I’m better. We are all having a lot of…intestional problems…but none of us really have the flu or anything. It’s been going on for a month or so.

We just moved into a new home a couple of months ago. We have well water. This is the first home I have lived in that has well water so I’m not very knowledgable about it.

I know that our water is very alkaline because of our fish aquariums take a lot of maintenance because of it.

We contacted the health department who was able to tell us that our well was tested in 2005 because the owners of the home we are renting had a daycare here and it had to be tested and everything was fine.

Am I wrong to assume that something might be wrong with the water, and if I am, what else could this be?
I hate to get into gross details but the majority of our problems seem to be gas/bloating that sort of thing. No vomiting. A rotten-egg type, very fragrant. Sighs. If it’s not the water, then what else might be wrong with us?

ppm of CaCO3 in mineral water when titrated with EDTA? Seems impossible?

An EDTA solution was prepared by dissolving approx. 4g of the disodium salt in approx. 1 L of water. An average of 42.35 mL of this solution was required to titrate 50mL aliquots of a standard that contained 0.7682g of MgCO3 per L. Titration of a 25 mL sample of mineral water at pH 10 required 18.81 mL of the EDTA solution. A 50 mL aliquot of the mineral water was rendered strongly alkaline to precipitate the magnesium as Mg(OH)2. Titration with a calcium specific indicator required 31.54 mL of the EDTA solution.

Calculate molarity of EDTA solution, ppm of CaCO3 in the mineral water, and ppm of the MgCO3 in mineral water.

Can someone please put me in the right direction, I have no idea where to start :-( .

Any good suggestions for raising healthy aquarium plants?

I need types that are easy to raise plus methods of keeping them healthy. I have had several bulbs that grow amazingly, but then die off. The plants I have bought at Petsmart don’t thrive. I don’t know why. My water is hard, alkaline medium, and overall a very healthy tank. My fish are thriving, why aren’t my plants?

Many of the SMELLY molecules of cooked fish are alkaline compounds. How might these SMELLY molecules be?

conveniently transformed into less SMELLY salts just prior to eating the fish?
2) What happens to the pH of an acidic solution as pure water is added?
3) A weak acid is added to a concentrated solution of hydrockloric acid. Does the solution become more or less acidic?
